...to promote fasting! :-) I haven't had much of an appetite for days -- in fact, the first 48 hours of this, i consumed nothing but coffee, clear broth, a little coconut-milk-based hot chocolate, water, and supplements. My weight hasn't reduced much, though, as i feel significant slow-down of my metabolism.
My breath-meter for ketones, however, is topping out red. (i ran out of the pee-strips, which report more precisely.) Even after a higher-carb dinner last night -- which was primarily rice-crackers with duck-liver pate and pickled beets -- i'm "in the red" this morning, proving that very-low-calorie diets can be ketogenic, even if there's a high PERCENTAGE of carbohydrate in them. NOT something i'd want to do regularly, though!
I'm going to try to eat a little more today and see if i can get rid of the light-headedness (which may be related to the inflammation in my sinuses, too) before i have to report for jury duty tomorrow morning, bright and early (EEEEK). ...Maybe if i sneeze on the judge i'll get sent home?
[evil grin]
OMG, YOU too! After 3 weeks I am finally flu-free. It is some nasty thing going around.
ReplyDeleteyes, but it's just a cold, not flu -- no fever, no vomiting or diarrhea. stuffy head, low energy, dizziness. mucus. I confess to using OTC drugs for the symptoms! :-)
DeleteIt seems to me no matter where you live there are some rather nasty flu / heavy cold bugs going around. Hope you feel better soon Tess especially with jury duty on the horizon.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
yep, i'm up early this morning to have my wake-up coffee-and-reading before having to leave for the courthouse. :-) I feel much more lively, though my ears are a bit clogged now.
DeleteDS noticed my "ketone breath" this evening - I told him sorry, I'll just have to stock up on chewing gum! Need to stay here a while (who knows; once I get past the carb flu symptoms it may be indefinite) - I've got 15 lbs to lose to go on my dream trip: Costa Rica @ end of Feb...
ReplyDeletethat sounds like an interesting trip -- good luck with the weight-loss!
DeleteYou poor thing. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDelete:-) thanks -- i'm not too pitiable an object, i'm happy to say. it's Woo I feel sorry for -- having to work with a lot nastier symptoms ...
